What will his TEDx Talk be about?

Everyone is always looking for the next hack, shortcut, book or idea in order to get ahead tomorrow, while loosing focus of the most powerful leverage point for success: TODAY

Who is Matthew Mockridge?
Matthew Mockridge studied international business and management in Miami, FL, USA but returned to his home country Germany, to start what has been called “the facebook of live entertainment”.
He is a next generation speaker, bestselling author and serial entrepreneur.

Born into a family of actors, directors, musicians and comics, it is no surprise to see Matthew dabble in live entertainment from a very early age. At only 28, the young entrepreneur has created one of the biggest electronic dance music touring giants, Europe has ever seen. His NEONSPLASH – Paint-Party® concept, a cross between Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil and a full on rave festival, rolled across the continent in record time and hit over 60 cities in its first 24 months. The company was incorporated from a 13m2 dorm room and mainly targeted university towns in its launch phase – no wonder people have been calling it the “facebook of live entertainment”!

Following up the craziness of their initial over-night success, Matthew and his three co-founders, all best friends – and yes, they live together in a frathouse-style start-up apartment, have recently followed up with another two heavy-hitters. City Slide®, a 500m waterslide that runs through major European cities, as well as ZOMBIE RUN®, a 5km zombie infested obstacle course, are both on tour globally, leaving everyone with the same question: How?

In his bestselling book, “NEXT BIG THING – creating BIG ideas from scratch”, Matthew sets out to answer this question, deconstructing the mechanics behind uber-ideas (no pun intended), all while taking stabs at both dusty conventional creative processes as well as standard perspectives on business, psychology, motivation and leadership.

An entrepreneurial rough-guide and “real-world” paint-by-numbers approach to creating and running a true killer-idea of the next generation!

“This whole thing is the stuff of a movie script”
Alex Just, Pro7 “taff”

“Matthew is a cross between a start-up founder and a Buddhist monk.”

Why Children Are Wiser Than You

What will his talk be about?
A light-hearted, insightful and thought-provoking talk, bringing attention to the importance of reconnecting with our inner child. As we grow older, we forgot what it’s like to be a child. We stop playing, imagining, finding joy in the small things, and as a result, our daring nature to dream slowly dies. We convince ourselves that we’re “growing up” and that we’re on a sure path to wisdom and success. We regard children as naïve, inexperienced, and incomplete in their understanding of life. But it’s not the case. Children are wise, we can learn a lot from them, and they hold the real secret to a happy and fulfilling life.

Who is Daniel Beaumont?
Daniel was born in the Lake District, England. He grew up with a big passion for adventure, psychology and understanding the human experience. Upon graduating from university in 2012, Daniel was confused, lacking purpose and a vision for himself, so he decided to travel the world in search for answers to some of life’s toughest philosophical questions. He adventured, hitchhiked and CouchSurfed his way across 40 countries on 4 continents, while interviewing everyday people he met along the way about their lives, dreams and regrets, as well as themes such as happiness, success and fear. After 4 years of intense experiences, he’s writing a book called The Zen Nomad, which traces his journey, lessons learned, and unique insights about life from people he met on the road.

Why work Motivation theory does not work in real life

What will his talk be about?
I am young and I view and present things through the eyes of a Generation Y person. One huge problem of this generation - the Generation which is entering at the moment the labour market - to selct the right job. As there are so many possibilities, Generation Y people don't know which to choose. And even worse: often it doesn't matter, which they chose, they are not happy with it. Because the other options always seem to be brighter, nicer and better. I have developed a tool, which is based on motivational psychology research results. This tool aims to detect the implicit motives (needs) of a person in a easy and fun manner. In a second step, the person is able to make his explicit motives (goals) congruent with his implicit motives. According to scientific studies and research from more than 50 years this leads not only to more productive and more efficient work of the persons using this tool, but as well to improved psychological and physiological well-being.

Our Future on Earth – Have you thought much about it?

What will his talk be about?
We generally take the world around us for granted. We might occasionally think about the environment, but we seldom think about what the world will be like in ten, twenty or thirty years. There are many futures that we might envision, however the most likely future is one that we may not like. This talk will challenge the listeners to think hard about the future and why our current actions and activities are leading to a world that will be neither enjoyable to live in or a legacy to be proud of. The talk will also provide guidance on how we might, by changing our habits, realize a future that we, and our children, can be proud of.
